are high blood pressure medications detectable by MEPS drug test?

Hi,I did the following:

are high blood pressure medications detectable by MEPS drug test?I have slightly high blood pressure and my recruiter wants me to go down to MEPS soon so I have to get it down fast.

So I was thinking about getting a prescription to get it down; I'd quit the Meds before I shipped and I know i'll be safe in Basic without them.

I'd just use them to get through the dreaded MEPS.

They are not testing for blood pressure medication in the drug tests. Lay off the salt and make sure you exercise daily. Salt jacks up you pressure.Read the labels on the foods you eat, check out the amount of sodium in each. Stay away from Ramen noodles some have up to 48% of your recommended sodium intake in 1 serving.

Taking medication to control something, then all of the sudden stopping it is a very dangerous thing. They still do a very basic physical at basic training, but it is still a physical.

I don't think that is a good idea.

But to answer your question, no the meds will not show up; they are testing for illegal drugs.

Why are you so afraid of MEPS? It is really no big deal at all, just stop thinking about it and relax!

Military Medical Standards for Enlistment & Appointment
Vascular system
The disqualifying medical conditions are listed below. The International Classification of Disease (ICD) codes are listed in parentheses following each standard.

The causes for rejection for appointment, enlistment, and induction (without an approved waiver) are an authenticated history of:
b. Hypertensive vascular disease (401), evidenced by the average of three consecutive diastolic blood pressure measurements greater than 90 mmHg or three consecutive systolic pressure measurements greater than 140 mmHg. High blood pressure requiring medication or a history of treatment including dietary restriction

Lying to Get Into the Military is a Felony
Let's get straight to the point. Knowingly giving false information or withholding required information on any recruiting form is a criminal offense (When the information would have made an individual ineligible to enlist, or would have required a waiver to enlist). It's not a misdemenor, it's not the same as getting a speeding ticket. It's a felony offense, punishable by a $ 10,000 fine and three years in prison. If you lie to get into the military, you are committing a felony. It's that simple. If you get away with it long enough to actually enlist, and are caught later, it's also a "military offense." You can be prosecuted for a violation of Article 83 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), which states:

"Any person who--

(1) procures his own enlistment or appointment in the armed forces by knowingly false representation or deliberate concealment as to his qualifications for that enlistment or appointment and receives pay or allowances thereunder; or

(2) procures his own separation from the armed forces by knowingly false representation or deliberate concealment as to his eligibility for that separation; shall be punished as a court-martial may direct."
