Hypertension and pregnancy....?

Hypertension and pregnancy....?I am 34 weeks and 3 days pregnant and towards the beginning of my pregnancy my blood pressure seemed to impress my doctors, but my last two prenatal appointments have been a different story. I had one at 32 weeks (two weeks ago) and they had to take my blood pressure three times and the third time was low but the first two were pretty high like, the systolic was in the 160s... my appointment today at 34 weeks, she took my blood pressure the first time and it was about 146/75 and the second time it was like 126/something.... now they are telling me to come back in a week so they can check it then... meanwhile they said to cut the salt and to rest....

I'm really freaked out... even getting up and sitting down makes me feel like I've been running...
I have been incredibly stressed lately with a family issue, and have also resorted to comfort eating. could this be what has caused my recent BP spike?
anyone else dealt with this kind of problem?

maybe that blood pressure is high for you personally. but i was told that for them to worry about pre eclampsia the bottom number has to be over 90 and the top somewhere in the 160s...so according to my doctors your blood pressure is pretty okay, so i am confused as to why they would tell you something like that.

I just say this because mine during my whole pregnancy was like in the 140's over the 80's and they always told me to watch it, but they wouldn't be concerned about me unless the bottom went into the 90's they told me the 80's were okay...and lower than that should be just fine.

I was told I had "Gest. Hypertension" around 31 weeks. Nothing really brought it on, but the thought that it can be a sign of Preeclampsia - which I wound up not having and still have not developed. They did lots of tests - but all are neg. and I have been good.

It is good they want to monitor you. I have to do my BP myself 2x a day and a nurse calls to check the number. I was put off a work a month earlier than planned but got Dis. b/c the doctor put me out.

Eating more can drive it up if you are eating processed foods or ones w/ lots of salt (even Diet soda has soduim!) so just watch that . . . not sure about stress, but once I was no longer working my BP has been good :-)

Don't freak out . . . relax, or try to.

YES, YES, YES!!! I started having problems way before you tho!! Around 23 weeks I started with LOTS of swelling EVERYWHERE!! Then came the 150/95's! The doc put me on 2 kinds of blood pressure meds that barely changed anything. He eventually put me on part time work. That lasted about a month then I was on bed rest. By the time I was 35 weeks the my bp was 170/ 100 and they decided to do a c-section! He was a little early and was in the nicu for a week but you can't even tell now! He's 17 months old and comepletely caught up! And we are now 29 weeks with a girl and my BP is normal! No problems whatsoever! Just make sure you do exactly what the doc tells you to do and you will be just fine!!! Try not to stress cuz you know that it will make you BP go up even more!! Good luck and Congrats!!!

My intital appt - 130/90
2nd appt was- 133-89
yesterday apt- 125/88

I am 14 wks pregnant and they told me not to worry and if it gets too high they will just put me on meds to control it. My doctor told me those numbers werent high enough to put me on meds right now because it would lower my bp so much that it would be dangerous for me and the baby. Dont stress about it; you will only raise your blood pressure more. I stopped with the salt intake by using a product in any grocery store called "Nu-Salt" and it tastes like salt but it isnt. Just go and get a blood pressure kit from wal mart for 10 bucks and watch your own blood pressure throughout the day and stuff. I hope you dont worry too much Preclampsia usually shows its face around 24 wks and your bottom number is ntohiing to be worried about. Good luck and I know u will have a very healthy happy bouncing baby
