Low Blood Pressure and High Blood Sugar?Last night I pulled an all nighter for a final and fell asleep about 11 am. I woke up at 7 pm and was feeling weak. My blood sugar (my mom is diabetic and has a machine) showed 141 and my blood pressure showed 99/63 (69 for my pulse). I have had blood sugar tests done and all are normal except one test showed it being 63 while fasting.
I hadn't eaten anything except a bowl of Cinnamon Life (8 grams of sugar) for breakfast. Do you think this could be related to hormones or aspartame? I started drinking soda again a couple of months ago.

Hi there,
I'm a registered dietitian. I am not a medical doctor. The definitive answer to your question will only be known once you see a doctor. If you are concerned, you should do this. However, I'll share some thoughts.
You had been up all night... this will induce cortisol, a stress hormone that tells your liver to make more glucose. It's possible that this was still working. Furthermore, you hadn't eaten for a long time, which also forces your liver to make some sugar to keep you alive. Given that your mom has diabetes, you're probably at risk of developing it, so have your doctor check your sugar next time you're there.
With respect to the BP, difficult to say, because BP is affected by so many things. I'd be more concerned about my blood sugar than about the BP. See your doctor to make sure nothing's up.
Take care.
